This 2 day course uses a scenario-based, team approach to teach pediatric emergency respiratory management or cardiac arrest.
The PALS course is for health care providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies. This course is for first-time or renewal training to obtain an American Heart Association PALS course completion card.
Course Content
- Recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardio-pulmonary arrest
- The systematic approach to pediatric assessment
- Effective respiratory management
- Validate skills for 1- and 2-person CPR and AED skills for infant and child
- Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
- Use of the PALS algorithms and flow charts
- Intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration
- Effective resuscitation team dynamics
Prerequisites for this class
- current Healthcare Provider card
- pre-test completed two days prior to class
- current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider and PALS cards for renewals
